First on our list is George Rogers Clark. He was the commander of the American forces that conquered the West (remember, that means the Midwest) during the Revolution. He was also the older brother of William, who was part of Lewis and Clark- guess which part! As was so often the case, George was promised a lot by the government, like reimbursement for his expenses, but once the War was over, they couldn't be bothered. So he pretty much died broke. Aren't politicians wonderful people?
If you're part of the Department of Youth, you've never heard of Billy Sunday, Damon Runyan, manners or couth. One of these things was born on this date. If you guessed Billy Sunday, you win the prize! And if you guessed that most of this comes from Alice Cooper's awesome album "Welcome to my Nightmare", or at leas the song "Department of Youth", you win an even bigger prize!
Here's a fun fact: Remember how the German 6th Army is having a bad day? The Russians are of course having a good one, thanks to Georgy Zhukov, who commanded the Russian attack. And on his 46th birthday, no less! Bet he was enjoying his birthday that year!
Larry King was born on this date. According to what I'm seeing, he's 78 today. However, if you look at his pictures, I think you'll agree that there are clearly a couple digits missing. He's at least a hundred and seventy eight- possibly two hundred plus. And I'm not even sure he's really still alive.
Grizzly Adams, aka Dan Haggerty, also has a birthday today. I loved that show. And Dan seems like a pretty cool guy. No snark for you!
Remember how Tom Villard died a few days ago, and turned out to be a pretty interesting guy? Well today is his birthday. He just missed the Daily Double. Still died too young.
Meg Ryan and Jodie Foster both have birthdays today. Meg is a year older, though from looking at her, you'd think she's at least 10-15 years older. Ain't plastic surgery great? I've always loved Jodie Foster. She's talented, brilliant, and imho, kinda hot. Alas, I have no chance with her, or so the rumors say. And at this point, who really doubts that rumor? Meg is one that I once thought was kinda hot. But as we've already established, not so much anymore.
And that's that.
