November 25 birthdays

Remember just yesterday, when Dale Carnegie had a birthday?  His brother Andrew has one today!  Just kidding- they're not related.  Though it's been argued that, given how much money Andrew gave away in his lifetime, he certainly could have taught a few lessons about winning friends and influencing people.

1844 gave us the aptly named Karl Benz.  Take a wild guess at what he's famous for?

All-around spoilsport Carrie Nation was born on this date in 1846.  I kinda doubt that her parents popped open the bubbly to celebrate.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?  Out to celebrate your birthday?  Just don't leave your wife Marilyn alone, or she'll be off with somebody else.  Fun story:  Towards the end of his career, the Yankees decided to have a "Joe DiMaggio Day" to celebrate his career.  They picked a day when his brother Dom was gonna be in town with his team- The Red Sox, I believe.  So the Yanks flew Momma DiMaggio in from San Francisco for the occasion.  She arrived at the stadium and was announced, then was supposed to go out to where Joe was waiting.  Instead, she went dashing across the diamond, so she could greet Dom, who she hadn't seen if a while.  I guess the crowd loved it!

Put on the finest Corinthian Leather to celebrate the birthday of the one and only Ricardo Montalban.  I wonder who thought naming his Fantasy Island character Mr. Roarke was appropriate, though I suppose it made him even more mysterious.  And now here's one for Eddie and all the rest of the Star Trek geeks:  "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!"

Super Bowl winning coach and race car owner Joe Gibbs has a birthday today.  Surprisingly, he's "only"71.  Seems like he's been around forever.  Of course, if the Redskins continue to suck like they have been lately, he might be back again.

In 1941, singer Percy Sledge was born.  This is what sometimes happens "when a man loves a woman".    The very next year, Bob Lind began his pursuit of the Bright Elusive Butterfly of Love.  No idea how his chase is going.  But hey- fun fact that I just learned:  Since he retired in the late 60s, he's been a writer, working for such luminaries of the written word as the "Weekly World News" and the "The Sun".  That's what you call a comedown, I guess.

"Bueller?  Has anyone seen Bueller?  Anyone?"  That's right- it's Ben Stein Day!  Happy birthday, Ben (delivered of course in a complete monotone)

Happy birthday also to Kelly Bundy herself.  Some might know her as Christina Applegate, but let's face it- that was still her most important role.

Donovan McNabb also has a birthday today.  I hope his mom wasn't in labor long- if he was under any pressure, he would have puked and failed to perform, and that would have been an ungodly mess.

It's also twins day!  Barbara and Jenna Bush, daughters and granddaughters of presidents were born on this date.  Interestingly (or not) actress Jill Hennessy and her sister Jacqueline also have birthdays today.  They should be grateful to the Bush girls, cuz frankly, the Hennessys had been skipped until I saw another set of twins.

And that brings us to the end of "Twins and other disasters" day.  (That name might need work).
