November 27 birthdays

Happy Birthday to the pride of Sweden, Alders Celsius.  He was an astronomer, who got sidetracked into inventing a temperature scale.  However, he didn't think it completely through, as his scale had water boiling at zero (0) degrees, and freezing at one hundred (100) degrees.  How he came to that conclusion is beyond me, but fortunately, once he died and was out of the way, Carl Linnaeus fixed it.

It's Howdy Doody Time, it's Howdy Doody time.  Bob Smith and Howdy too, say Happy birthday to Bob.  Or something like that.  If that was as unclear as I assume it was, it's Buffalo Bob Smith's birthday today.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting, in order to celebrate the birthday of the one and only Bruce Lee, born on this date in San Francisco, believe it or not.  He was however, raised in Hong Kong.  His father was an actor, and decided to return home (they were touring the US), even though it looked like the Japanese were going to invade.  They did, and the Lee family lived under occupation for the duration of the War.  Later, as a teenager, Bruce apparently was a little bit too scrappy for his own good, and was constantly in fights.  Finally, he beat the crap out of a guy who was apparently connected to the Hong Kong Mob.  That was when it paid off to be part of a famous and wealthy family, as the police warned his parents, and they packed him back off to the US.

Ooh, oooh, oooh.  Even bigger name alert:  Happy birthday to the incredible James Marshall Hendrix!!!!  Yup, Jimi was born on this date too, in 1942.  Sadly, like Bruce Lee, he died way too young.  Sigh.

Happy birthday also to Yulia Tymoshenko, of the Ukraine.  She is a Ukrainian businesswoman and politician.  She served as Prime Minister a couple times, and helped lead their Orange Revolution.  She has a few really positive traits- she's pretty hot, and very rich, and has a daughter who is even hotter yet.  Unfortunately, honesty and integrity are not among her positive traits, I gather.  She was sentenced to prison last year, but I don't know if she's actually there or not.

Robin Givens was also born on this date.  She used to be an actress of no great repute.  She's best known today for being very impressive when her clothes accidentally fall off in front of a camera, and for her tendency once upon a time to let Mike Tyson beat the crap out of her.  They were married at the time, but that's still inexcusable for either of them.  Since then, she's not done much of any note, which is too bad.  But she's still trying, I guess.

And that's the end of that story.
