Once again, I was afraid we'd have nothing interesting to write about here. But I found at least one person! Yay me!
RIP Marcel Proust. In order to encapsulate the intricacies of Proust, I'll hereby summarize him, in song:
Proust in his first book wrote about (fa la la)
Proust in his first book wrote about
He wrote about
He wrote about...
Proust in his first book wrote about the (gong!!)
(thanks of course to Monty Python for that piece of art)
Should I add something else to it? Probably. But that's all I've got.
Hey, remember when we talked about the term "drink the kool-aid"? Yeah, well remember too when we mentioned the 900+ people who died? Well remember too that Jim Jones, the leader of the cult was one of them. He can zark off and die for what he did to all those people. He doesn't get an RIP, just an acknowledgement that the world became a slightly better place once he croaked.
Also dying today was Gia Carangi. She's the subject of the film "Gia" which pretty much made Angelina Jolie famous. She was pretty hot apparently, but she was also a major heroin addict. She also died of AIDS, though I guess one can argue whether it was from drugs or unsafe sex. On the other hand, I don't guess it really matters.
Give a "Hi De Hi De Hi De Ho" to celebrate Cab Calloway, who died on this date in 1994. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan- he seemed to be one of those who tried to make a career by redoing the same thing that brought him to prominence, in his case "Minnie the Moocher". Me, I think that the version from the Blues Brothers Movie is the best I've ever heard, but that could be just because that was the first one I ever heard. Or it could be that it's the best version. Take your pick.
And that's that.
