In 1952, Walter Briggs Sr died. He owned the Detroit Tigers, so he was way cool! He made his money in the auto and plumbing industries.
In 2007, Art Buchwald died. He was a writer and, to his immense pride, a US Marine. His story of his relationship with his drill instructor was quite touching. He also wrote a screenplay about an African prince who came to America to find a wife. He suggested that the best person to play the role would be Eddie Murphy. It was optioned by a couple studios, but never made. Until one of the two studios, after their option expired, made a movie called "coming to America". With Eddie Murphy. But it had nothing to do with his screenplay. Nope. Not even the slightest similarity. At any rate, he lawyered up, and in the end the studio admitted the incredibly obvious. He made some bucks off that fiasco, but how many is secret.
